Chronos

[Zürich, Switzerland]

"The group piece named Chronos, is a physicalization of Arvo Paert's music piece "The Fratres". While the movement interpretates the fundamental elements of the music such as the melody, the rhytmic patterns and the musical qualities, the choreographic structure is based on the music composition and it is divided into nine different, cohesive and independant brief episodes. Arvo Pärt describes this set of musical variations as a combination of contrasting qualities; frantic activity and sublime stillness. These reflect Part's observation of an instant and eternal struggle within us. Inspired by the composer's words, I tried to bring on stage nine different scenes where the fleeting and the eternal coexist together in a game through time: Chronos"
