Sophie Elizabeth Larson
Sophie Elizabeth is a dancer and choreographer originally from Utah. Born in 2003, she began her dance training at a young age, specializing in a wide range of styles and competing extensively throughout her early years. At 18, she moved to Switzerland to study contemporary dance at Zurich University of the Arts.
During her studies, Sophie had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers such as Nadav Zelner, Luca Signoretti, and Gregor Zöllig. She also performed repertoire by acclaimed artists including Marco Goecke, Dunja Jocic, Marco Cantalupo, and Katarzyna Gdaniec. Touring across the Netherlands and Germany was a highlight of this time, as was her exploration of dance on film through projects in Switzerland and Macedonia.
Currently, Sophie is interning with Joshua Monten Dance Company in Bern and Amorphous Dance Company in Nice, France. Alongside her work as a performer, she has a strong passion for choreography and teaching. Her choreographic style blends influences from her competition dance background with the contemporary approaches she has encountered in Europe. Her work has been recognized with awards such as 1st place at Salt Contemporary Dance’s Shape Choreography Festival, Best Choreography at the Universal Ballet Competition, and 2nd place at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP).
Sophie’s vision is to continue performing and evolving as an artist in Europe while expanding her choreographic presence both in the United States and internationally.
